This meeting emphasized the establishment of an integrated defense posture and the establishment of a close cooperative system, and discussed response measures to prepare for various emergency situations.

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) held the ‘2024 4th Quarter Integrated Defense Council’ at the Disaster and Safety Situation Room on the 20th. This meeting was attended by about 30 people including Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, military, police, fire department, and civilian officials, and various discussions were held to establish an integrated defense posture and strengthen the cooperation system.
The meeting was chaired by Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, and included ▲presentation of the 2024 Integrated Defense Meritorious Service Award ▲report on the 2025 Reserve Forces Training and Support Subsidy Promotion Plan ▲report on the 9th Division’s recent security situation.
The meeting agreed that close cooperation and systematic response measures between each agency are necessary to prepare for unexpected emergency situations in the rapidly changing domestic and international security environment. In particular, measures to strengthen an effective response system to security threats and maintain a rapid cooperation system in times of emergency were intensively discussed.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said at the meeting, “In order to protect the safety of citizens in a rapidly changing security environment, a solid security posture and close cooperation between agencies are more important than anything else,” and urged, “I urge related agencies to closely communicate with each other and maintain a thorough preparedness posture to ensure the safety of citizens.”
This integrated defense council has become an important communication platform where related organizations such as the military, police, and fire department gather together to review regional security issues and seek cooperation measures. In particular, accurate analysis of security threats and response strategies were shared, and practical measures to strengthen the regional safety net were discussed.
Meanwhile, the Goyang Special City Integrated Defense Council is held quarterly and continuously discusses integrated defense measures, operational training support, and efficient fostering and operation of national defense elements.
Goyang Special City plans to maintain a close civilian-military-police-firefighting cooperation system in the future, strengthen its ability to respond to emergency situations, and establish an integrated defense system that prioritizes the safety of citizens.
