Yeongdeungpo-gu announced a new start for strengthening regional security by appointing Kim Won-guk (former head of the Yeongdeungpo-gu Council of the Democratic Peace Unification Advisory Council) as the new vice-chairman of the Integrated Defense Council. This appointment will take effect on January 1, 2025, and Vice-chairman Kim will be responsible for further strengthening the cooperation system among the civilian, government, military, and police for two years.
Vice Chairman Kim Won-guk, who is determined to respond quickly to security threats in our region and do his best to protect the precious lives and safety of local residents, has accumulated experience and insight in the field of national security for many years after graduating from the Graduate School of Social Development at Chung-Ang University. He plans to establish a stable and reliable regional defense system through his activities in the Integrated Defense Council.

Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon highly praised Vice-Chairman Kim Won-guk’s expertise and leadership, and emphasized that he would establish a more solid cooperative system to create a safe community where residents can feel secure. Mayor Choi said, “I expect Vice-Chairman Kim Won-guk to work hard to create a safe Yeongdeungpo by prioritizing the lives and safety of residents based on his rich experience and insight,” and emphasized the importance of collaboration with various organizations.
Vice Chairman Kim Jin-gi expressed deep gratitude for each member’s accomplishments in their respective duties and expressed his will to continue to work on regional integrated defense in the future. Yeongdeungpo-gu Integrated Defense Council is establishing a rapid and close response system to prioritize the safety of residents from security threats such as North Korea’s military provocations through a cooperative defense system among the civilian, government, military, and police.
