A new bicycle path will be built from Jochiwon, Sejong City to Sinbangyo Bridge in Jeonui-myeon, allowing for a special trip to enjoy nature by bicycle along the Jocheon River. This bicycle path extension is expected to serve as an important foundation for promoting bicycle use and local tourism in Sejong City.
On the 22nd, Sejong City announced that it had completed the bicycle travel course by extending the bicycle road from the Cherry Blossom Tunnel in Jochiwon to Sinbang Bridge in Jeonui-myeon by about 1km. This section is connected to the bicycle road that runs from the existing Jochiwon to Bear Tree Park in Jeondong-myeon to Jeonui-myeon, creating a total course of 22km. It can be completed in about 1 hour and 30 minutes by bicycle, so anyone can take on the challenge without any burden.

In particular, this bike path was created by utilizing the water-friendly space between the river and the road. It is designed to allow riders to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the riverside while riding, and is gaining attention as a course where they can feel close to nature. In spring, the fantastic scenery along the cherry blossom road along the riverside is expected to provide a special experience for bike travelers.
The connection to Jeonui Station also adds to the appeal of bicycle travel. Travelers who lack physical strength or have difficulty completing long courses can travel without burden by using the train. However, please note that bicycles must be folded or disassembled and placed in a bag to board the train.
This bike path is also expected to contribute to the revitalization of local tourism through its connection to nearby tourist attractions. It is expected to attract more tourists as it will be easy to visit major attractions such as Electric Bear Tree Park, Jeonui Wangui Water Market, and Myomok Platform.
Namgung Ho, the Sejong City Transportation Bureau Director, said, “The cherry blossom road along the Jocheon River and the bicycle road that allows people to feel the natural scenery up close will not only provide health and enjoyment to citizens, but will also play a big role in revitalizing local tourism.” He added, “We plan to continue to discover and promote various projects to spread the bicycle culture and create a convenient transportation environment.”
The opening of this bike path is an important first step for Sejong City to build a sustainable transportation environment where nature and humans coexist, and to develop the local economy and tourism. It seems that the bike path, where both citizens and tourists can feel the charm of the stream and enjoy health and pleasure together, will continue to be loved in the future.
