Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 12th that it was selected as an excellent organization in the ‘2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training’ evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This achievement is the second consecutive year of receiving the highest grade, and Goyang City’s systematic disaster response capabilities have been proven once again.
On October 21, Goyang City conducted a large-scale fire response training for a multi-dense facility at Goyang Aram Nuri. This training was conducted assuming that the electric vehicle fires in underground parking lots, which have been on the rise recently, would spread inside the building. Through this, the focus was on checking the response capabilities in actual disaster situations and strengthening the actual response capabilities.
The Ministry of Public Safety and Security evaluated the disaster response safety training in Korea based on a total of 17 indicators, including training planning, design, implementation, and feedback. Goyang City received high scores in all categories and was ultimately selected as an excellent organization.
In particular, this year’s training received high praise for organic cooperation between Goyang City, fire department, police, and other related organizations to make quick and accurate decisions in order to prevent the spread of damage in the early stages of a disaster, while also preemptively responding by reflecting various situations in the scenarios.
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “Receiving the highest rating for two consecutive years is a result of Goyang City’s thoroughly prepared disaster response capabilities and cooperation system,” and added, “We will continue to prioritize the safety of citizens and do our best to prevent disasters and respond quickly.”
City officials said, “We will continue to conduct realistic training to further strengthen our capabilities so that we can respond quickly and systematically in the event of a disaster,” and “We will do our best to create a safe city where citizens can live with peace of mind.”
Goyang Special City plans to further enhance its disaster response system in the future and strengthen cooperation with related organizations to establish a disaster management system that prioritizes the safety of citizens.
