Smart farm facilities specialized for each crop
Smart farms are interconnected greenhouses measuring 0.2 to 0.4 ha each, providing an environment optimized for the characteristics of crops such as cucumbers and strawberries. Major facilities include bed facilities for hydroponic cultivation, a complex environmental control system, a nutrient supply, and a heating and cooling fan. These facilities are equipped with the function of controlling the appropriate internal environment for each crop, and are designed to collect and analyze data through internal and external environmental sensors to maintain optimal cultivation conditions.
Cheonan City expects that this smart farm will be an important turning point that supports more efficient and productive farming than existing farming methods and provides farmers with advanced data-based agricultural technology.
Opportunities for young farmers and smart farming development
Mayor Park Sang-don of Cheonan City emphasized in this opening ceremony that “smart farms are a symbol of agricultural innovation utilizing core technologies of future agriculture,” and that “not only do they increase productivity and quality by creating an environment suitable for each crop, but they also enable scientific farming using data.” He continued, “We will not spare our continued support so that young farmers can lead future agriculture, as they are especially showing great interest in smart agriculture.”
Advancement of agriculture and strengthening of competitiveness of local farmers
The opening of this smart farm is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening the agricultural competitiveness of Cheonan City. This is because smart farms can increase the efficiency of agricultural production and create a stable agricultural environment that is less affected by external factors such as climate change. In addition, it is expected to be an important stepping stone for increasing farm income, promoting the influx of young farmers, and developing sustainable agriculture.
Cheonan City plans to continue to promote various projects to expand smart farming-related technologies and support farmers, and to further enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture through advanced agriculture.
