Cheonan City announced on the 10th that it has finalized the symbol of the *’77th Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sports Festival’* scheduled to be held for four days from June 12 to 15, 2024. The symbols finalized this time include the emblem, poster, mascot, and competition slogan, reflecting Cheonan’s unique and regional characteristics and containing the dynamism and message of harmony of the Provincial Sports Festival.

The identity of Cheonan and the meaning of the Provincial Sports Festival contained in the symbol
The finalized emblem symbolically represents Cheonan, the holy ground of the independence movement. Using the motif of a torch and a sacred fire, the initials ‘C’ of Chungcheongnam-do and Cheonan were shaped with curves and simple colors, and the image of a leaping person was used to express the energetic energy of the Provincial Sports Festival.
The competition poster was produced in two designs. The first one emphasized the symbolism by using the emblem as a torch and expressing the number of times the competition was held, *’77’*, as a torch. The second was a passionate and lively design that combined a track and a torch, conveying the dynamic atmosphere of the Provincial Sports Festival through the images of the athletes.
The mascot is based on the Cheonan City character, *’Patriotic Girl Narangi’*, to maintain the continuity of the city brand. In addition, the auxiliary character, *’Torch’*, which symbolizes a torch, was added to intuitively express the events of the Provincial Sports Festival and add friendliness.
The slogan for the competition was chosen as *’Hot cheers in Cheonan, everyone’s eyes on Chungnam’*, which contained a concise yet powerful message of passion and harmony.
Cheonan City is fully prepared for the competition
Cheonan City announced its ambition to showcase high-quality sports events utilizing local sports facilities through this Provincial Sports Festival. 31 events including track and field, tennis, and park golf will be held in 34 stadiums, and all events will be held in facilities within Cheonan to increase the concentration and efficiency of the competition.
We are making thorough preparations for a safe and convenient competition, including improving stadium facilities and expanding parking facilities, and the confirmed symbol will be used in various promotional media and throughout the entire operation of the competition.
Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don said, “The Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sports Festival, which is being held in Cheonan for the first time in 21 years, will be an opportunity to promote Cheonan’s status,” and added, “We will do our best to create a safe and high-quality competition that everyone can enjoy.”
It is expected that this Provincial Sports Festival will be a successful event that brings together Cheonan City’s historical pride and capabilities as a sports city.
