Sejong Bandabi Ice Rink to Begin Free Trial Operations from the 12th

Sejong Bandabi Ice Rink in Sejong Special Self-Governing City, where people with and without disabilities can enjoy ice rinks together, will be open for free for 11 days from the 12th to the 22nd. During this period, Sejong City plans to check the stability of ice rink operation and reflect the valuable opinions of citizens to establish itself as an optimized winter sports facility.

Opening of the nation’s first ice rink for the disabled

Sejong Bandabi Ice Rink is the first ice rink for the disabled in Korea, designed for both the disabled and non-disabled to use together. The 4,657㎡ ice rink meets international standards and has 304 seats. In particular, it has received an excellent grade in the Barrier Free certification, boasting an environment where the disabled can use it without inconvenience.

Sejong City Mayor Choi Min-ho said, “It is very meaningful that our city will be the first in the country to operate the Bandabi Ice Rink,” and added, “We will reflect the various opinions of citizens during this trial operation period to make it a sports facility representing Sejong City.”

Free Trial Details

The free trial run will be held four times a day from 10 AM to 9 PM, with each session lasting two hours. Each session can accommodate up to 300 people on a first-come, first-served basis, and citizens who wish to use the service must make a reservation in advance through the integrated reservation system starting on the 4th.

During the trial operation period, Sejong City will prioritize the prevention of safety accidents and will inspect and supplement any deficiencies in ice rink facilities and programs. After this improvement process, Bandabi Ice Rink plans to begin official operation on the 23rd.

A winter sports venue for everyone

Sejong Bandabi Ice Rink is an integrated space where people with and without disabilities can enjoy sports together, and is expected to contribute to social inclusion and expansion of the sports base. In particular, it can be used as a specialized training facility for disabled athletes, so it is expected to have a positive effect on the development of disabled sports.

Sejong City plans to actively collect opinions from users through this pilot operation and improve facility operation and programs by reflecting them.
