The Hometown Love Donation System is a system in which individuals donate to local governments (metropolitan, basic) other than their place of residence*, and local governments use the donations to create a Hometown Love Fund to support vulnerable groups, cultural and artistic projects, and other areas of Seoul to promote resident welfare. (※ Seoul City District A residents: donations to other cities and provinces other than Seoul City and District A, as well as other autonomous districts within Seoul City, are possible.)

On the 20th (Friday), the Seoul Metropolitan Government deliberated and decided on whether to extend the supply of gift items provided this year and select new gift items through the Hometown Love Donation Gift Selection Committee.

This new return gift (목) includes 8 types of products including ▴(Culture/Tourism Service) ‘Haechi & Soul Friends’ souvenirs, Seoul Moon boarding pass, ▴(Industrial Products) EM eco-friendly gift set, air freshener set, wardrobe/car air freshener (sachet), handmade knife, handmade sickle, sprout ginseng cosmetics, etc., attracting attention by selecting a variety of products that can be used in daily life while feeling the style of Seoul.

The new gift items can be selected with points received through hometown love donations on the ‘Hometown Love e-um’ website from January 2025. When donating, points equivalent to 30% of the donation amount are accumulated, and donors can select a gift item with points on the Hometown Love e-um website. If there are points left after selecting a gift item, the remaining amount can be used for 5 years from the date of donation.

Starting January 1, 2025, the donation limit will be expanded so that individuals can donate up to 20 million won per year, and can receive gifts such as local specialties within 30% of the donation amount. In addition, donations of up to 100,000 won are fully tax deductible, and 16.5% of the amount exceeding 100,000 won is tax deductible.

Donations can be made both online and offline. Online donations can be made through the Hometown Love e-um (https://ilovegohyang.go.kr/) website, and offline donations can be made through any Nonghyup branch nationwide.

Shin Hye-sook, the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s finance officer, said, “Through the 2025 gift selection, we will be able to provide a wider variety of gift items to those who donate to Seoul. Seoul will continue to discover attractive gift items in the future to express our gratitude to those who donate and to work to revitalize the local economy.”
