Yongin Special City Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Receives Award for 'Local Government Education Cooperation Project Meritorious Organization'

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) received the ‘Education Cooperation Project Merit Award’ from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education in recognition of its contribution to revitalizing educational cooperation projects in the region. This award was given based on the achievements Yongin Special City made in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education in improving the educational environment and operating school programs.

Yongin Special City has been actively working to improve the educational environment for nurturing future talents. In particular, it has contributed greatly to improving educational conditions by supporting 36 schools in the region with a budget of 5.44 billion won, including the expansion project of the multipurpose auditorium at Jangpyeong Elementary School in Wonsam-myeon. In addition, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has provided additional support of 5.74 billion won, doubling the effect of improving Yongin’s educational environment.

The school program cooperation project also received high evaluation. The city conducted the ‘Hometown Yongin Cultural Experience’ where 105 elementary schools could experience the history and culture of the region. In addition, 32 high schools worked hard to strengthen students’ career exploration and academic motivation through ‘Yongin-type career-linked student-tailored education’. A total budget of 150 million won was invested in this project.

City officials said, “This award is the result of our contribution to helping students pursue their dreams through improving the educational environment and operating various programs,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide a quality educational environment where students can learn and realize their dreams.”

With this award, Yongin Special City plans to further strengthen cooperation with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, continuously expand the educational infrastructure within the region, and accelerate policy development for future generations.
