Songpa-gu (Seo Kang-seok, Mayor) was selected as the best organization at the ‘2024 Seoul Tuberculosis Management Project Evaluation Competition’ held on December 24, winning the grand prize for the second consecutive year. With this award, Songpa-gu has established itself as the number one autonomous district in Seoul for tuberculosis management projects.

This evaluation competition selected best practices by comprehensively evaluating the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, including ▲early detection of tuberculosis ▲patient management ▲achievement rate of government joint evaluation indicators ▲autonomous district specialized projects.

This year, Songpa-gu has focused on ▲mobile tuberculosis screening for vulnerable groups ▲customized case management for tuberculosis patients ▲welfare service linkage ▲tuberculosis prevention education ▲publicity activities to improve awareness.

In particular, to eliminate blind spots in tuberculosis, mobile tuberculosis screening was conducted for 2,441 vulnerable people in the region, and the results of increasing the patient cure rate were achieved through case management and welfare service linkage.

In addition, we conducted thorough preventive education for workers and users of major facilities such as daycare centers, correctional facilities, and welfare centers, and actively promoted the importance of tuberculosis management through awareness-raising campaigns using various media.

Such systematic tuberculosis management and prevention activities were highly evaluated and became the driving force behind Songpa-gu being selected as the best local government for tuberculosis management in Seoul.

Songpa-gu has been recognized for its management capabilities by receiving awards from tuberculosis management-related organizations three times this year. In November, it received an award from the Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in the epidemiological investigation category at the ‘2024 Private-Public Cooperation National Tuberculosis Management Project Evaluation Competition’, and received an award of merit at the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Korean Tuberculosis Association.

Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “This award is the result of external recognition of Songpa-gu’s systematic and proactive tuberculosis management efforts,” and added, “We will continue to make Songpa-gu safe from infectious diseases through thorough management and preventive activities for tuberculosis patients.”
