Songpa-gu, Seoul (Head of District Office Seo Kang-seok) announced on the 18th that the Dementia Care Center at the Public Health Center has opened a KakaoTalk channel and started service for the convenience of residents. The purpose of this non-face-to-face channel opening is to make it easier to access dementia-related information and services.

Songpa-gu opened this KakaoTalk channel in consideration of the fact that many residents are reluctant to visit the center due to concerns or questions about dementia due to family members or those around them. Through this, an environment was created where residents can easily obtain information and receive counseling anywhere.

The ‘Songpa-gu Dementia Care Center’ KakaoTalk channel provides three main services: ▲providing the latest information on dementia prevention, symptoms, treatment, and management; ▲providing information on various training, events, and programs conducted by the center; and ▲real-time counseling services for families of dementia patients and high-risk groups.

In particular, the counseling service focuses on discovering early symptoms of dementia and providing customized support for high-risk groups. During the center’s operating hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., staff members provide real-time counseling, and outside of operating hours, an automatic response service is provided via a chatbot.

Joining the channel is easy. Search for ‘Songpa-gu Dementia Care Center’ on the KakaoTalk app or scan the dedicated QR code posted on the center’s website to sign up and use the service right away. Anyone who is a Songpa-gu resident can use the service for free.

Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “I hope that by opening the KakaoTalk channel, residents will be able to use dementia-related services and information more easily and conveniently,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide various communication channels so that no resident is excluded from the benefits of dementia prevention and management.”

Meanwhile, Songpa-gu is proactively preparing for a super-aging society through various programs such as free blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease risk, operation of healing farms, and dementia care centers that visit senior centers and community centers.
