Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it held the **’Gyeonggi Northern Giwoohoe 2024 4th Quarter Regular Meeting’** at the Sonocam Goyang East Tower Grand Ballroom on the 23rd. This regular meeting was hosted by the Goyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was attended by approximately 200 people, including Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, Goyang Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, Gyeonggi Northern mayors and county governors, and businesspeople.
The Gyeonggi Northern Giwoohoe is held in each region every quarter, and serves as a venue for discussing policies for the development of Gyeonggi Northern, sharing current issues, and seeking cooperation measures.
◆ Goyang City, sharing the results of promoting the designation of a free economic zone
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said in his welcoming speech, **“Since being selected as the first candidate for a free economic zone in northern Gyeonggi Province, Goyang Special City has completed attracting investment worth approximately 6.5 trillion won.”**
He continued, “We will develop it into an economic hub with global competitiveness by linking it with large-scale industrial infrastructures such as Ilsan Techno Valley, Broadcasting and Video Valley, and KINTEX 3rd Exhibition Center,” and emphasized, “We will work closely with Gyeonggi Province to definitely complete the designation of a free economic zone and regional development.”
◆ Gyeonggi Province, Promises Active Cooperation
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon said in his congratulatory speech, “Gyeonggi Province will actively support the designation and successful promotion of Goyang City’s free economic zone.”
In addition, he emphasized, **“There are great concerns that CJ LiveCity’s K-Culture Valley project has been suspended, but this is a temporary situation, and we will work closely with Goyang City to ensure that the project progresses quickly and dramatically as soon as possible.”**
◆ Pledge of cooperation for development of northern Gyeonggi region
In this regular meeting, measures to revitalize the economy in the northern Gyeonggi region, establishment of a public-private partnership system, and strategies to attract companies and expand investment were discussed. In particular, various opinions were exchanged for the successful promotion of the designation of a free economic zone and the K-Culture Valley project that Goyang City is promoting.
Participants pledged that each local government would work closely together and expand policy support to revitalize the northern Gyeonggi Province economy.
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, **“This regular meeting has become an important forum for discussion on economic development in the northern Gyeonggi region,” and “Goyang City will successfully promote the designation of a free economic zone and the K-Culture Valley project to revitalize the local economy.”**
