Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok had lunch and a time of communication with nine MZ generation employees on January 2nd, the first day of work in the new year. This meeting was arranged to directly hear the opinions of young employees, who are the driving force of the organization’s development, and reflect them in district administration.
▲ Participation of young public officials of various ranks
The dinner was attended by young public officials with various careers, from grades 9 to 7. The attendees ranged from staff who played key roles in Songpa-gu last year in areas such as the Garak Market Water Tower public art project, national cultural heritage management, and tax and social welfare, to rookie civil servants who were just hired on January 1.
The Seogu District Mayor warmly welcomed the young employees by holding a short tea party before the meal, and then had an informal conversation while eating a familiar menu item, gukbap (noodle soup).
▲ Honest conversation and exchange of ideas
The Seo-gu mayor gave New Year’s greetings and encouraged the employees who worked hard in their respective positions last year. He then listened to the daily concerns and interests of young civil servants and listened to creative ideas for the development of the district, forming a consensus.
In particular, the Seo-gu district head urged, “As public officials, do not forget your responsibility to promote the convenience and welfare of residents, and overcome difficulties with positive thinking and a creative mind.”
▲ A place for communication, the district mayor who has come closer
One attending employee said, “At first, it was awkward to have lunch with the mayor, but I felt closer to him as we ate noodles together at a restaurant we often go to,” and “I felt his sincerity in trying to communicate with and respect the thoughts of the young employees.”
▲ Sustainable communication administration promise
Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “I expect that MZ generation employees will lead a creative and flexible public service culture,” and “I will continue to communicate with the younger generation and design the future of Songpa-gu together.”
This national rice communication event is expected to be not just a simple New Year’s event, but also an opportunity to lay the foundation for MZ generation public officials to actively speak up and demonstrate their capabilities within the organization.
