The Seoul Jung-gu Welfare Center for the Disabled (Seoul Jung-gu Jangbok) will hold an exhibition of works by developmentally disabled young artists, titled ‘The Other Perspective’, at the Insa-dong Nohwarang Exhibition Hall from the 9th to the 15th.

This exhibition is a place to showcase the results of creative activities of the ‘Dream Blossom Academy’, a program to support independence of the disabled, which is being carried out as part of the ‘Hands of Love’ fundraising project of the Seoul Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul. 11 young artists with developmental disabilities will participate and share the process of growing into professional artists through works containing unique perspectives and artistic sensibilities.
The title of the exhibition, ‘The Other Perspective’, signifies that the works of artists with developmental disabilities present a colorful and unique perspective on the world. Each work suggests a way to face the world with a new perspective, beyond the existing framework, and reminds us of the value of diversity.
Through the support of the Nohwarang space, it serves as an incubation space that discovers the artistic potential of young artists with developmental disabilities and supports their growth. This exhibition provides an opportunity for artists with developmental disabilities to make a leap forward as professional artists and provides a channel for them to connect with society through their creative activities.
Seoul Jung-gu Jangbok Director Moon Jung-ho said, “I hope that this exhibition, now in its sixth year, will serve as a cornerstone for people with developmental disabilities to expand into professional artists through specialized cultural and artistic activities,” and added, “We plan to continue supporting their creative activities and expanding their social opportunities in the future.”
This exhibition is an opportunity to experience the creative energy of young people with developmental disabilities. It is expected to be an opportunity to discover diversity and newness through their art and to overcome social prejudice.
