The first exhibition of the year is the ‘Ulsan Exhibition, Our Land of Living’, which will be held from January to February. 17 local artists will participate and present 170 works, which will convey the depth and diversity of local art to citizens. Then, in March, the ‘National Painting Invitational Exhibition’ will be held to support the creative activities of new artists. This exhibition will introduce 120 mixed works by new artists active nationwide and in the Ulsan region, suggesting a new artistic trend.

In May, the ‘Republic of Korea Contemporary Art Exhibition’ will be held, featuring 20 representative Korean contemporary artists. This exhibition provides an opportunity to view the flow of contemporary art and the depth of the works, and is considered an important exhibition where you can see the trends of the domestic art world in one place. In the summer, the ‘National Outdoor Sculpture Invitational Exhibition’ will be held from August to October at an outdoor exhibition hall in the city center. 20 large outdoor sculptures will provide citizens with a special experience where art and relaxation coexist.

The ‘Artist of the Year’ solo exhibition, which will be held throughout 2025, will select five young artists and exhibit 100 works of various genres, including art and photography, in a relay format. This program is expected to provide creative opportunities for young artists while also providing citizens with a fresh cultural experience.

An official from the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center said, “This 30th anniversary special exhibition is an important opportunity to establish the identity of local art and contribute to Ulsan’s leap forward as a cultural city,” and added, “We will continue to provide citizens with diverse opportunities to enjoy culture through high-quality exhibitions and various programs.” He added, “The various exhibitions held in 2024 received great responses from citizens, and this special exhibition will also leave a deep impression on citizens and the art world.”

Ulsan Culture and Arts Center received much attention last year for breaking down the boundaries between art and daily life through various exhibitions such as the ‘Ulsan Mid-career Artist Invitational Exhibition’, ‘Ulsan Artist Park Heung-dae and Jeong Gi-hong Retrospective Exhibition’, and ‘Outdoor Installation Art Wind Exhibition’. This year, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, it is expected to reexamine the value of local art and create a new stage for artistic advancement.
