Yongin Special City presented awards to 39 individuals who contributed to the development of local culture and arts and expressed gratitude for their dedication. Mayor Lee Sang-il emphasized that culture and arts enhance the dignity of a region and enrich the lives of its citizens, and pledged to continue to make Yongin a differentiated cultural city.

On the 24th, Yongin Special City awarded awards to 39 individuals who have contributed to the development of local culture and arts at the Cultural Arts Center International Conference Room. Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City personally attended the event, handed out awards, and had a time of communication with the recipients.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said in his opening remarks, “This year, Yongin successfully held the 42nd Korea Theater Festival, laying the foundation for a leap forward as a national cultural city,” and “We are also holding the Korea University Theater Festival for the first time, establishing ourselves as a center of culture and art.” He continued, “Culture and art are what enrich our lives,” and said that he will continue to make various efforts to support and revitalize them.
He also said that he personally attended special art lectures and worked to broaden his knowledge of the cultural and artistic fields, and emphasized that the activities of local cultural and artistic figures and groups are further elevating the cultural level of Yongin. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Yongin’s distinctive cultural flavor was possible thanks to the dedication of the people here.”

Every year, Yongin Special City honors citizens and organizations that have dedicated themselves to the development of local culture and arts by awarding them with awards. This year, various organizations and individuals, including the Yongin Cultural Foundation, Yongin Arts Association, Yongin Cultural Center, and the Lifestyle Culture and Arts Association, were honored with awards.
The city plans to continue to actively support local artists and organizations and establish Yongin as a representative cultural city of South Korea.
