Yeongdeungpo-gu attended the ‘Gyeongbu Line Underground Promotion Council Meeting’ held in the conference room of Yongsan-gu Office on the 11th and signed a joint petition for the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line. Six local governments (Yongsan-gu, Guro-gu, Geumcheon-gu, Dongjak-gu, Anyang-si, Gunpo-si) including Yeongdeungpo-gu participated in the meeting, and they strongly urged the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to designate the Gyeongbu Line undergrounding pilot project.
At the meeting that day, it was expressed that the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line would make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the region and the establishment of cultural and leisure spaces. In particular, this project, which is expected to be a signal of a great transformation for Yeongdeungpo’s next 100 years, is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and the improvement of residents’ quality of life.

Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, who attended the meeting, emphasized, “The underground railroad project in our region is more necessary now than ever, and through this, we will create a better urban environment.” He added, “Promoting this project is an essential measure for local residents and future generations.”
The joint petition signed at this meeting will be delivered to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and we hope that this will further promote cooperation among local governments and expedite the progress of the Gyeongbu Line underground project.
This underground Gyeongbu Line project is expected to go beyond a simple transportation issue and become an essential element for the integration and sustainable development of the local community. We expect that cooperation will continue in the future, looking forward to the realization of a ‘happy city’ created together with local residents.
