Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center Completes High-Quality Cactus Cultivation Management Training

Goyang Special City conducted high-quality cultivation management training for cactus farmers. It shared the latest agricultural technologies, such as grafted cactus production and succulent plant propagation techniques, and supported increased farm income and enhanced export competitiveness.

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) conducted high-quality cultivation management training for local cactus farmers in the conference room of the Agricultural Technology Center on the 4th. This training was designed to provide the latest agricultural technology required for cactus cultivation and management, thereby increasing farm income and enhancing export competitiveness.

The educational lecture was given by Team Leader Lee Jae-hong of the Cactus and Succulent Plant Research Institute of Gyeonggi Agricultural Research and Extension Services. Team Leader Lee lectured on the agricultural knowledge and practical aspects of cactus cultivation, including ▲ types and characteristics of cacti ▲ cultivation and management methods ▲ export potential and market outlook.

In particular, the latest technologies that are directly helpful for farming practices, such as the production and management techniques of grafted cacti, and the characteristics and propagation techniques of succulents, were introduced, receiving a great response from the training participants.

Cactus, gaining attention as a strategic export item

Cactus is an export strategic item that is in great demand not only domestically but also overseas. Lee Sook-hyang, the head of the research and development division at the Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center, said, “Cactus is an item that can contribute to increasing farmers’ income and revitalizing the local economy, so continuous technical education and research and development are important,” and added, “I hope that through this education, farmers will be able to acquire specialized knowledge and use it in the field.”

Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center plans to continue to conduct various educational and research activities that can provide practical help to agricultural fields in the future.
