Cheonan City Disabled Sports Association has been actively utilizing key sports facilities in the region, such as a comprehensive sports center for the disabled, a soccer center, a futsal field, and a swimming pool, by investing 40 million won in national funds every year. Based on these facilities, they have provided customized programs considering the type of disability, life cycle, and individual level for about 100 members, thereby promoting the health of the disabled and expanding their participation in sports activities.

In particular, this project was evaluated as having contributed greatly to the revitalization of disabled sports by creating a virtuous cycle structure encompassing hobby activities and professional athlete training. In addition to the enjoyment of recreational sports in various sports, it provided disabled athletes with opportunities to advance to a bigger stage through professional training courses.

Park Sang-don, the chairman of the Cheonan City Disabled Sports Association, said, “We have operated a local public sports club for the past six years and have created a systematic and sustainable environment for disabled athletes,” and added, “We will continue to provide support in various ways so that disabled people can lead healthy and active lives.”

Cheonan City plans to continue to increase the accessibility of sports for the disabled and support the independence and social participation of disabled athletes through sustainable program operation. Through this, Cheonan is expected to create an inclusive sports environment where the disabled and non-disabled can mingle together.
