Yongin Special City announced on the 13th that it will implement the ‘Our Home Renovation Support Project’ to improve energy efficiency and living environment. This project is an expanded and reorganized version of the existing ‘Green Building Construction Support Project’, and by securing additional provincial funds, the scale of support has been significantly increased compared to the previous year.

The support target is a house that has been approved for use for more than 15 years according to the Building Act, including single-family homes, multi-family homes, multi-unit homes, and townhouses. Applications can be made by the owner according to the building registration copy, and the house must meet the relevant conditions as of the announcement date.

Selected households can receive support of up to 10 million won, up to 50% of the construction cost. In the case of apartment complexes, support of up to 30 million won per unit is possible when carrying out construction of common areas.

The supported construction includes replacing old windows and doors with products with superior insulation performance, reinforcing and replacing them with insulation materials that increase energy efficiency by increasing the outside air blocking rate. In addition, various construction projects are supported to improve energy performance, such as replacing with high-efficiency lighting and boilers, and installing heat recovery ventilation devices.

Building owners who wish to apply should complete a contract with a construction company, prepare an application form and required documents, and visit the city’s architecture department starting February 17 to submit them. Detailed application methods and required documents can be found on the Yongin City Hall website (www.yongin.go.kr).

After receiving applications, Yongin Special City plans to comprehensively review the aging and scale of the buildings, energy performance improvement effects, etc., and select the final recipients through its own review committee.

City officials said, “The goal is to provide a comfortable living environment and reduce energy consumption by improving the energy performance of old buildings,” and added, “We hope that many citizens will take interest in this project, which will be expanded starting this year, apply, and receive practical help.”

He also encouraged citizens’ active participation, saying, “Energy conservation and improved living environments are not only beneficial to individuals, but also play an important role in protecting the environment and enhancing the sustainability of cities.”
