Seongnam City is promoting a reading club support project to spread the reading culture and help citizens form reading habits. This year, 80 adult reading club teams and 20 family reading club teams were selected, and discussion books worth 300,000 to 500,000 won per team were provided annually.
To this end, Seongnam City will accept applications for the reading club support project from January 13 to February 7. Adult reading clubs are clubs with 5 or more members registered on the Seongnam City Library website, and teams that regularly hold reading discussion activities at least once a month can apply. Newly starting reading clubs can also apply.
Family reading clubs can be applied for by teams of two or more families, including elementary school children. Selected clubs with five or more members will receive a discussion book worth 500,000 won, and those with two to four members will receive a book worth 300,000 won.
In addition, Seongnam City provides programs such as joint discussion meetings, cultural tours, and lectures to help exchange and growth between reading clubs.
Reading clubs wishing to apply should fill out the application form, activity plan, introduction, and member list posted on the Seongnam City Library website notice board within the deadline and submit them to the department in charge email (snlibbook@korea.kr).
The selection results will be posted on the Seongnam City Library website on February 14, and the selected clubs will have the opportunity to participate in the annual program.
City officials said, “Reading clubs play an important role in forming citizens’ reading habits and promoting community solidarity,” and added, “Through this support project, we will create a foundation for more reading clubs to become active and for citizens to grow together.”
